Well I can't believe it's already 2010. I just got back into LA a couple days ago after being back home in Hawaii for about a month. I didn't go back during the summer, so I wanted to go back for the Christmas break for a while. I felt like I was waiting half the year just to finally go back. Life after graduation is so different from life during school, it's such a huge transition and then for the first time ever, I have never felt so homesick in my life. But it was a good month being back in Hawaii. Spent everyday pretty much chilling and hanging out with friends and family, but did a little work here and there. I have so many pictures, I'm going to have to split some up in different posts.

A Tribute to Ahi

One of the things I've missed about Hawaii is the food. Sure there's Hawaiian restaurants on the mainland, but it just isn't the same. There's L&L and there's restaurants like Ono Hawaii BBQ which we don't even have in Hawaii, so I don't think those really count. One of my most favorite food ever is spicy ahi. Every time I'm at a sushi restaurant in LA, I just have to get a spicy ahi roll or spicy tuna roll. I swear I could eat that everyday. I tried this restaurant, which I guess is new because I've never seen it before, called Spicy Ahi & BBQ. And that picture up there is a picture of the ahi bowl I got. If you've never been to Hawaii before, one of the local foods you must try is ahi and this is one of the places to go try it.

And of course, they serve BBQ too, hence the name of the restaurant. Just had a bite of it though, but it was great as well.

I've been meaning to get my business cards printed for months but kept revising and redoing designs because I was never fully satisfied with them. They were either too simple or too much going on. Finally! After 6 months of coming up with a design idea every now and then, I finally came up with something I can settle with.

Shirt Designs

So I always had these two main ideas in my head that I always wanted to make into t-shirts. Pretty much a play on mainstream designs. If you're from Hawaii, you know you always see those shaka shirts that say "Hang Loose" on them. But I have never actually seen a girly and feminine version of them. And I've had two ideas deriving from the Thank You bags. This one and another one...which I guess is vulgar but would be funny. Well, I finally made the graphics for them last week when I actually had some free time. So now I'm back home and contemplating whether to get them screen printed or not and try to sell a few. Yay or nay?

Been Busy, Need a Break

Yes, I know Thanksgiving was about two weeks ago and now I'm finally posting pictures from them. I have just been so busy!

Some pictures from The Getty the other day. Not sure of what I enjoy more, the art or the view. Been so busy the past week with work. I'm now in Hawaii, just arrived today at noon. I can't believe I haven't been home in almost a year. I've just spent the whole day at home today, trying to relax. I miss the whole laid-back vibe here, something that took me almost three years to realize how much I actually miss it. Well, be expecting more pictures within the coming weeks.

Holiday Party

Here's some pictures from the holiday alumni party. One of the perks of being an alumni, free drinks, food, and goodies. It made me realize how I kind of miss school. I've been so used to seeing friends and classmates every week and now everyone has their own different schedule and it's pretty much an event if I ever see any of them. Aside from that, I spent my Thanksgiving in San Diego. It's so much more different than LA, it's nice getting out of here and its crazy hecticness. I'll post pictures in the next post. But I can't believe I'm already going home to Hawaii in about a week. I haven't been home in almost a year. I usually go during the holidays and for the summer but I didn't go this summer. Just had to much going on but I miss it so much. Eek, can't wait!

$7 boots!

Went to Buffalo Exchange across my work during my break yesterday. Needed a break after sitting in front of the computer all day. And then I found these boots that were originally $14 bucks but it was 50% off so it was $7! Even though they're heels, they feels so comfy and don't even feel like they are heels at all. They are probably one of the comfiest boots I've ever had.

Halloween

Went to Down & Derby at the Echoplex for Halloween. It was fun! Haven't been rollerskating since I was a kid. Dressed up as a cat, Edward dressed up as an "executive zombie". Actually came back right from San Diego the night off, got ready right when we got home, and then headed right out. Halloween has got to be one of my favorite holidays ever. You get to dress up however you want and be something you aren't for a night. I got pics from San Diego but I'll put them up in the next post.

Where The Wild Things Are movie

So I finally just saw Where the Wild Things Are just the other night and I could say it was honestly satisfying and I enjoyed it. It's just one of those movies you either hate or love. And by the reviews I have read, a number of critics weren't impressed by it. It certainly is not typical kid's film, even though it is based on the book. I honestly don't remember the book, the last time I read it was when I was a kid. I guess some people were expecting something with much more obnoxious humor to it. It certainly isn't a movie like Shrek or Madagascar. With a lot of movies, you are just entertained throughout the time you are watching the movie and probably don't think much about it afterward. With this, you are certainly left with thoughts lingering through your mind. It's actually really a touching film and exemplifies what it's like to be a kid again. Although it's supposed to be a "kid's movie", I don't really think it is and adults would appreciate it a lot more. It's made with the mindset of a child.

Lindsay Lohan, whom which we all love to hate, debuted her Spring 2010 Ungaro collection. And yes, pretty much every fashion critic ripped it to shreds. Clearly filled with tons of creative ideas, as seen by the heart shaped pasties. Especially the ones randomly placed on the head. Not really sure what went on with the development of the idea and concept for the collection. The colors and hearts look like she drew inspiration from the girls section of WalMart and her movie Mean Girls. Well hey, that's actually one movie I liked from her. But her move into the fashion industry...uhh, why she she doing this?

Where The Wild Things Are

There have been a couple of good movies that I've seen this summer that were actually worth the $12 to go see. Like Inglorious Basterds and District 9. One movie that I really excited to go see is Where the Wild Things Are, which is based on the children book. I'm pretty sure almost everyone has read that book when they were kids. Open Ceremony did a collaboration with the movie and made a collection based on it. It's awesome.

I'm not really a picky eater, so I love trying new foods and drinks out. The Neuro drinks are fairly new and they have several flavors that are supposed to serve for different purposes. For example, they have NeuroTrim, NeuroBliss, NeuroSleep, and NeuroGasm. I have only tried one and yes you guessed it, the NeuroGasm. And by the name, you could probably guess what its' "function" is supposed to be for. Actually, it's pretty much just an energy drink and just marketed its' name as something sexual. And of course if you see something with the name NeuroGasm, it automatically grabs your attention because I'm sure you probably haven't seen something like it before. Especially the shape of the bottle as well, which is I guess you could say is pretty phallic. Just the name of it itself just makes me want to go out and buy one.

Lady Gaga in October issue of V Magazine

The first time I heard about Lady Gaga, she was still a brunette. Almost as soon as she went blonde and changed her style, she started getting big and became a bombshell. With her crazy and questionable styles, it's almost impossible to ignore her or hear her on the radio a hundred times. She's proof that it's not just talent that makes someone famous but their presence also plays a big role on how successful an artist becomes. Love her or hate her, her style is so recognizable as she also influences other artists. Personally, I love her unique sense of style but with some I am just left confused. Such as the part to her video for her "Paparazzi" video where she is in a wheelchair. But with so many artists being pumped out everyday, it seems like some just pop out and go away within a matter of time. Millions of people dream of become a musician and now it's so much easier with shows such as American Idol. Especially with the internet and how this generation gets so bored easily, it really takes something different and sticky for it to be able to stick around for some time. Now that there's so many other ways of obtaining music and so much easier to get your own music out, will there be any more idols that will be as influencial as Madonna and Michael Jackson in a "throw away" generation? We'll see.

I'm in San Antonio, Texas right now! Been here for a week and a half so far. Edward and I drove over from LA. It took about two full days of driving. Drove through Arizona and New Mexico. Never been to any of these three states before so that was something new. It's been relaxing here and got to meet Edward's family. Been taking it easy over here. Been going to bed late and waking up late. Feels nice to be out of LA for a little bit!
